About CWG

SDD Cyber Working Group (CWG) is a multilateral dialogue for defense officials on cyber security that allows officials to share their opinions and experience in dealing with cyber issues, and thus provides an opportunity to build trust in the process. Since its inception in 2014, with a common recognition on the need for international cooperation in the cyber domain, participating countries shared their national defense cyber policy, reviewed international law issues pertaining to the cyberspace, and discussed development policy of cyber workforce.

Progress of CWG

The establishment of Cyber Working Group (CWG) was proposed by the Vice Minister of National Defense during the 1st SDD (Nov. 2012)

The Preparatory Meeting for CWG was held during the 2nd SDD (Nov. 2013)

The 1st CWG was held during the 3rd SDD (Oct. 2014)

The 2nd CWG was held during the 4th SDD (Sept. 2015)

The 3rd CWG was held during the 5th SDD (Sept. 2016)

The 4th CWG was held during the 6th SDD (Sept. 2017)

The 5th CWG was held during the 7th SDD (Sept. 2018)

Purpose and Objectives of CWG

Purpose

Promote practical and effective cooperation on cyber security in Asia-Pacific region.

Enhance national cyber security capacity of participating countries and promote trust building relations among them.

Objectives

Enhance international collaboration on various types of cyber threats and contribute to improving individual country's response capability.

Establish a firm international cooperation framework on defense cyber security.

Produce shared outcomes that are meaningful in joint response against cyber threats.
